So, my card table had seen better days. The cheap vinyl covering had scratches and tears, so it always required a tablecloth. My usual solution was to cover with a piece of chalkcloth - instant fun kids table! A great solution, but still the table was lacking. This project was definitely easy, took about an hour of actual work time and had minimal pain in the #$% annoyances. DIY Magnetic Chalkboard

So, I love the idea of chalkcloth, but the idea of writing with chalk just gives me the willies. The mess of the chalk dust has stopped me from having fun with this fabric. But this weekend, I found a solution, Chalk Ink markers. Chalkcloth for Dinner Time Fun

I snapped this photo last night before serving dinner. The kids had already started doodling on it . We save the chalkcloth tablecloth (2 yards of chalkcloth to cover the table) for special occasions to keep the idea fresh. It’s the one thing that will bring everyone to the dinner table quickly. Tip: have extra cloth napkins at the table to use as erasers.

Oilcloth vs. Coated Fabric

Friends and customers have been asking, so we thought we’d explain the differences between our oilcloth and our coated fabric. Oilcloth is woven cotton that has been covered with PVC. Its front is shiny (except for the chalk cloth) and its backside is rough. It is a heavy, hardy material that lies well flat, has a stiff body (for tote bags, for example) and stores well by rolling it.
